Shadow puppetry and movement.....the full Monty with clothes on!

Posted 2012 Feb by Caroline Astell-Burt

A new project starts on 23rd February when you can work with a choreographer and make a group piece. This course allows you to explore the shadow as an object. You learn to project your body with light and manipulate the shadow as a puppet. You can for one evening explore movement, mystery and atmosphere.
This course would be suitable for dancers wanting to experience puppetry, and puppeteers who want to work in new and interesting ways in physical theatre.

The class will be lead by Tom Woods and Caroline Astell-Burt. Tom Woods was dancer/puppeteer for Bound2B Theatre Company 2011 with Caroline Astell-Burt who was director of puppetry. Tom is an experienced teacher of dance, and is working professionally in film and theatre. He has just completed a contract as dance and movement co-ordinator for the film 'Gravity' starring Sandra Bullock and George Cluny. He has credits for the Royal Opera House where he was swing for Faeries and for UK tours of music theatre.   Caroline Astell-Burt is an experienced puppeteer and has collaborated with choreographers, dancers and shadow puppetry for Royal Opera House, Whitehall Theatre, Dundee, Opera North, Edinburgh Festival.
