Interviews

When you apply for the diploma you might be invited to participate in one of our open workshops which will enable us to see how you work with objects, puppets and performance, alternatively you might have a skype screen to screen or phone interview. 

What to prepare for your interview

So that we can really get a good idea about who you are, and also see that you are committed to working as a professional puppeteer, we will ask you to prepare your interview:

  • Send us an email outlining your experience, your educational and or work background, details of long term physical or mental illness, the contact details of two referees. If you are applying from abroad you will also send details of a mentor to help you and support you when you return from the uk.
  • A business plan showing that you understand how a puppeteer earns a living and that you are aware of the help available to enable you to set up in business as a freelance artist, such as local authority start-up classes, Princes Trust, 
  • Anything of interest about yourself that you think might appeal to your interviewer.
  • Confirmation that you have read and understood the Student Handbook (an email will do)

After the interview

After your interview we will notify you by email of the outcome, generally we will make a decision within a few days. If you have been successful you will be provided with all the information you need for your chosen course.

In the event your application was unsuccessful, you may appeal the decision in writing within two weeks of receiving our decision. We make every effort to review any appeal, but we can not give any guarantee that we will be able to offer you a place.
